The choice to suspend clergymen Malsha Shareef, Mariyam Shiuna and Abdulla Mahzoom Majid from their posts comes after India raised the matter with the island country today.

Remarkably, Shiuna had considered PM Modi a “jokester” and “manikin” in now-erased posts on X after the State had posted photos of his visit to Lakshadweep and pitched the island as a traveler objective for Indians. The tweets were brought down after a reaction to the miniature publishing content to a blog website.

Aside from Shiuna, other Maldives authorities, including MP Zahid Rameez, taunted Top state leader Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep after the photos acquired wide consideration via web-based entertainment, with many contrasting it with the Maldives.

The Maldives government has dismissed the slanderous comments against Modi, expressing that they don’t address the perspectives on the Maldivian government.

Soon after the remarks against PM Modi went viral, hundreds of social media users, including celebrities, protested with calls to boycott tourism in Maldives and instead explore domestic destinations.

According to the Maldives Tourism Ministry statistics, over 17 lakh tourists visited the island nation in 2023, out of which more than 2,09,198 visitors were Indians followed by Russians (2,09,146) and China (1,87,118)

Confronting a backfire following the discretionary column among India and the Maldives, the island country’s top travel industry body has firmly censured the slanderous remarks made by some Delegate Priests of the country against India and Top state leader Modi after he visited Lakshadweep.
